You already know what to do. Something is getting in the way.
Neurofeedback and Counseling in Denver, CO
People come to LuxNeuro from very different places. Some are at a breaking point. Others look completely fine from the outside and still know something essential is missing. What most share is this: they have tried things. Therapy, medication, different approaches. And still, something is not moving.
The phrase we hear most often is: I know what to do. I just cannot do it.
That gap is not a willpower problem. It may be a brain that has not yet had the conditions to let the change in. At LuxNeuro, we work directly with what may be happening in the brain so that the effort you have already put in actually has somewhere to land.
This is where we start.

A note before you explore…
Each page here has its own feel. That is intentional. Different nervous systems take in information differently. Some people need to skim and find themselves quickly. Others want to go deep before they decide anything. Find the one that feels like it was written for you. It probably was.

How We Work
1. Discovery Call
This is where we hear what has been going on, and more importantly, where we start to translate it. As you talk, patterns tend to come into focus in a way they have not before. People usually leave this conversation with a clearer sense of what is actually happening for them, not just what it feels like from the inside.
2. Brain Map
We map your brain before we do anything else. Two people with the same symptoms can have completely different things happening underneath. The map tells us what we are actually working with. We do not guess. We look.
3. Neurofeedback and Counseling
From there we build something specific to you. Not a protocol. Not a standard approach. A targeted plan built around what your brain map shows, with your brain always as the guide.
Coming for counseling only? We start with the discovery call and go from there.
What Makes LuxNeuro Different
Lux (lat.): light, shine

Most mental health support starts with how you feel and works from there. We start with why. Not the story of why, though that matters and we hold it carefully. The neurophysiological why. What your brain may actually be doing underneath the anxiety, the sleeplessness, the burnout, the sense that you know who you are but cannot seem to access that version of yourself consistently.
We use a qEEG brain map before we do anything else. That map shows us patterns that symptoms alone cannot reveal. Two people can describe identical experiences and have completely different things driving them underneath. Knowing which one you are working with changes everything about the approach.
Neurofeedback and counseling work together here because the brain and the mind are not separate problems. When the physiological patterns shift, the psychological work lands differently. When the meaning-making changes, the nervous system has less to stay activated about. We follow the brain’s lead on both.
This is not a replacement for other care you may be receiving. Many of our clients work alongside therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, and other providers. We collaborate readily and refer when appropriate. What we offer is a layer of support that addresses the brain directly, in a way that tends to reach what other approaches have not fully touched.

About Laura
Laura Mahony, MS, LPC, BCN, QEEG-D
I started LuxNeuro because I lived the experience of not having answers for a very long time.
I had done everything right. Therapy, meditation, working out, researching everything I could find. I understood myself. I knew what I was capable of. And I was still anxious, still stuck, still not quite living as the person I knew I was. That did not make sense to me. I am someone who finds answers.
What I found was the brain. Understanding my own nervous system made everything fall into place in a way nothing else had. I went from surviving my life to creating it.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified in Neurofeedback, and hold a Diplomate certification in qEEG brain mapping from the IQCB, one of the highest credentials available in this field. I am also neurodivergent, highly sensitive, and have lived experience with anxiety, complex trauma, depression, and menopause. That experience is not a footnote to this work. It is the foundation of it.
One of the things I have always been able to do is take something genuinely complex and make it make sense. Not simplified to the point of losing what matters, but translated into something a person can actually feel and use. If reading this felt different from other things you have read about brain health or mental health, that is intentional. Understanding yourself is not a side effect of this work. It is the whole point.
What Change Actually Looks Like
Brain regulation touches more than people expect. When it shifts, so does everything else.
People come in hoping to feel less bad. Some describe moments of feeling genuinely present and well in a way that surprised them. The clear windshield effect, we call it. The background noise that had become so familiar they stopped noticing it is simply gone.
And for many, the most meaningful part is simply this: someone finally explained how they work. Not what is wrong with them. How they work.

The Evidence Behind Our Work
Neurofeedback is supported by decades of published, peer-reviewed research and has been studied in relation to anxiety, ADHD, sleep, trauma, and depression. qEEG brain mapping has been used in clinical and research settings for over 40 years to help clinicians better understand patterns of brain activity. At LuxNeuro, brain mapping is used to guide individualized care rather than relying on generic protocols or symptom lists alone.
