MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING

It’s not just the science, it’s also life experience.
We understand both.

Counseling Services

Life's experiences intricately shape our present selves, offering us an opportunity for transformation.

Within the journey of life, stress can evolve into strength, and fear into freedom. Through counseling, we foster growth and coping strategies for life's challenges.

Within the realms of individual, family, and couples counseling, our qualified practitioners embark on personalized journeys with clients, delving into their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. We provide a secure space for clients to share openly. Like neurofeedback, we set goals and guide progress. With our expertise, you'll emerge confidently equipped for the future.

How Counseling Works

In both individual, family, and couples counseling sessions, we work to identify the issues and concerns that are coming up and find ways to establish a healthy foundation and home base moving forward. Sessions are focused on clients feeling seen, heard, and validated and identifying tools and guidelines so they can make progress toward their goals. Our goal is to help clients build the skillsets they need that they are able to use outside of a clinical session.

We also offer intensives for clients who want to maximize their treatment plan and end goals. This is a great option for clients who are more constricted with time or are coming in from out of state. Intensives allow us to create a personalized plan to match a client’s pace, providing them with more freedom and flexibility to accommodate busy lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Complimentary Discovery Call:
All new clients start with a private consultation, which includes a preliminary discussion about your needs and how our services will help you. This time is extremely valuable so we can learn as much as possible about you. We discuss, in detail, our neurofeedback process, and how we can meet your expectations.

    Collect qEEG Brain Map Data:
The next step is scheduling an appointment to collect brainwave data for a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), also known as a brain map. This will provide us with the data we need to create your overall treatment strategy, allowing us to visualize the baseline activity of your brain and evaluate the appropriate treatment protocols based on your results. The duration of this appointment is approx. 60 minutes.

    Review qEEG Brain Map:
Once the data has been processed into the qEEG report, we have a roadmap to understand how your brain functions and the steps to take moving forward. A follow-up appointment is scheduled to go over your results and discuss treatment strategies. During this appointment, you will learn about how your brainwaves correlate with your symptoms that brought you to neurofeedback. You will also learn where your brain is doing well.

    Begin Neurofeedback Training:
Neurofeedback training, at its core, is the process of learning. During neurofeedback sessions, your brain learns to produce less or more of the brainwaves that we target, in the locations that need more or less power of certain brainwaves. By placing electrodes on the scalp (a non-invasive process), the brainwaves are read and the brain receives feedback through visual, tactile, or auditory feedback. This allows the brain to self-adjust. With repetition, the brain learns to regulate itself, leading to improved symptoms.

    Integration:
Clients have the option of participating in either 45-minute sessions of a check-in and neurofeedback training, or 60-minute neurofeedback and counseling sessions of half counseling and half neurofeedback. This is the best of both worlds! Neurofeedback sessions or intensives occur once to five times per week. Optimal results for neurofeedback typically require between thirty to sixty sessions. Regardless of training frequency, all clients are evaluated consistently throughout their training to track shifts in symptomology and experience.

    Graduation:
When we reach a point where we and our clients feel that all goals have been met and our clients feel like their quality of life has improved, they can graduate from treatment. At LuxNeuro, there is an end goal in mind. We help clients get to a healthy place in life with the right practical and applicable tools. Once our clients graduate, the results are longitudinal and they don’t need to come back or additional therapy unless they have new circumstances that cause dysregulation. Others may come back as they age for a tune up.

  • Yes, we offer neurofeedback and counseling services separately and together. Grounded in neuroscience and psychology, neurofeedback and counseling are a union between the conscious and subconscious parts of us, which help us to understand what’s happening externally in ways we’re aware of and what’s going on internally in ways we’re not yet aware of. This work will give you the transformational life and educational tools, and counseling support, you need to access the wisdom that already lies within you to begin the process of healing.

  • Psychological counseling is a process that helps individuals at various stages of personal development who are seeking help to cope with and understand issues in their lives that are causing them concern and affecting their quality of life. The goal of psychological counseling may be to:
